What your AI assistant can do with Alex Legal
Once connected, your AI assistant answers your questions from your companies' real data in Alex Legal: companies, governance, shareholdings, documents and operations. It finds a fact, sets out a breakdown or drafts a summary. Today the connector is read-only; write access is coming soon.
Not connected yet? Start with the MCP setup. Every request below can be copied as it is: just replace what is in square brackets.
At a glance
- Secure sign-in: you connect with your own Alex Legal account. No API key to copy.
- Your access, nothing more: the assistant only sees the organisations, groups and companies you can already open in Alex.
- Read-only, for now: nothing is changed or deleted through the connector, and write access is coming soon.
- Saved data only: the assistant reads the saved version of a cap table or share register, never a draft that is still being edited.
1. Find your organisations, groups and companies
The starting point for any question: the assistant lists the organisations, groups and companies you belong to.
- Organisation: its name, the features switched on, and its members with their names, emails and roles.
- Groups: each group with its number of companies, then the companies in a group or across the whole organisation, with their legal form and registration numbers.
- Company profile: legal identity, registration, registered office, share capital and key dates.
Example requests:
List the organisations, groups and companies I have access to in Alex Legal.
Who are the members of my organisation in Alex Legal, and what is each one's role?
How many companies are there in each of my groups?
List the companies in [group] with their legal form and registration number.
Give me the profile of [company]: registration, registered office, share capital and key dates.
2. Look up governance
- Individuals and legal entities: everyone linked to a company, then each one in detail: identity, contact details, address and representatives.
- Directorships: who holds which corporate office (président, directeur général, gérant…), with the option to keep only current ones.
- Boards and committees: each board or committee, with its type and appointment dates.
Example requests:
Who are the current officers of [company], and what office does each hold?
List the individuals and legal entities linked to [company], with the representatives of the legal entities.
Which current directorships does [person] hold across my companies?
List the boards and committees of [company], with their type and appointment dates.
Prepare a summary of [company] with its legal details and its officers' current directorships.
3. Analyse shareholdings and the share register
- Cap table: the saved breakdown by shareholder, with the securities held and their classes.
- Share classes: ordinary shares, preference shares and other classes, with their economic terms.
- Register entries: every transaction recorded in the share register, with accounts, quantities, dates and classes.
Example requests:
Show the capital of [company] broken down by shareholder and by share class.
Which shareholders hold more than 10% of the capital of [company]?
Which share classes has [company] issued, and what are their economic terms?
List the entries in the share register of [company] since [date], with the accounts and quantities involved.
Shareholding changes still open in the editor need to be saved in Alex before the connector can read them.
4. Search and question your documents
The assistant browses a company's folders and searches documents by name, type or date. It can then put a question to up to 100 PDFs at once (articles of association, minutes, filings) and answers with the passages it found and their page numbers. Rather than guess, it also says what it couldn't find and which files it couldn't read.
Example requests:
Show me the folder structure for [company].
Find the general meeting minutes of [company] since [year].
Find the articles of association of [company], then identify the clauses on approval of share transfers, citing the relevant pages.
In the minutes of [company], list every decision to increase the share capital, with its date and page.
5. Follow your corporate operations
The assistant lists a company's operations (general meeting, capital increase, share transfer…) and opens one in detail: its documents, clauses, variables and review status.
Example requests:
List the operations of [company] and, for each one, the documents involved and their review status.
Which clauses and variables does the [name] operation of [company] contain?
For the [name] operation, which documents have not been reviewed yet?
6. What the connector doesn't do yet
Today the connector looks things up and analyses them; it doesn't write. It changes no information, document, operation or register entry, and write access is coming soon. In the meantime, to update the share register or produce a Word or Excel report, use the assistant built into Alex, inside the app.
To withdraw an assistant's access, see the MCP setup, under "Stay in control of access".
